Hello! We are Amanda and Kevin and we want to thank you for considering us in the adoption journey for your child. We acknowledge the strength and determination it takes to make this decision and we wish for nothing but the best for you and your child.
We have been together for 11 years and married for six. We met during our final year at Eastern Michigan University where we both graduated with degrees in English literature (so you know nightly story time is happening!). Our families have lived in southeast Michigan our entire lives and that is a major reason why we chose the same location. Kevin works as an IT administrator for a healthcare company based in Flint. However, a flexible schedule means he is able to work from home most days. Amanda works as close to home as possible. Literally! She works for a Pre-K Montessori right next door to our house, caring for infants and preparing them for toddlerhood.
Education is incredibly important to us and we want to show that to our child in our own actions. We both enjoy learning new things. Whether that be a new recipe in the kitchen, how to fix something around the house, or just getting lost in a history article, we want to be the example for our child to seek knowledge. Show rather than tell. And that extends beyond just learning and into all facets of life.
We also love games! Board games, videos games, horsing around in the yard, we encourage all types of play. Amanda is a Disney adult and is often singing along to movies (or any music for that matter). She also enjoys sewing, baking, and watching football (go Blue!). Kevin is also into sports, following the Red Wings and Lions closely. He can also be found watching cooking videos and playing old video games. Travel is both a chance to relax and to learn. We love visiting local museums and festivals when we are on vacation. Though there are times when all we want to do is relax and have fun.
Of course, the most important place for our child is at home, and they will have one full of love and friends. Their two furry siblings are eager to meet them! Lil Gray and Holly will be wonderful big sisters and have plenty of experience watching over the kittens we foster for the local animal shelter. Our child will also have plenty of human interactions, as our family and close friends are often around.
There is so much more than we can say here and we hope that we can show all of it to you should you choose us. We have nothing but respect for you and the journey you are on and we hope to continue it with you.
