Hello!
We are Donald and Gwyn. We are both native Michiganders, but have spent pivotal parts
of our lives in Arizona. In fact, when we matched on an online dating website in 2014 one of the
first things we bonded over was that we had recently returned to Michigan. We moved in
together within six months, bought a house in 2018, and have been married since 2022.
We are each the eldest sibling in our respective families, and are close to our brothers and
sisters (there are five between the two of us!). We now also have two nephews and one niece,
all under 5yrs old, so a child in our home will grow up alongside their cousins, and have plenty
of aunties, uncles, and grandparents to spend time with.
We are a family that ‘goes Up North’ at least once a year to visit Gwyn’s extended family, where
aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews all come together for a big family reunion. Family
get-togethers are important to us and we have three to four Christmases across the families,
though we host Thanksgiving in our own home.
For more casual holidays, we love hosting parties with friends: board games, miniature painting,
movie marathons, and always way too much food. We have a close network of friends who
share our hobbies and interests and meet up regularly, and we can’t wait to have a child join in
on the fun (and the cooking).
Donald is passionate about music of all kinds. He is a skilled musician who plays multiple
instruments, though his favorite is bass guitar. Our home is full of Donald’s musical instruments,
and record players. We enjoy going to concerts together at unique music venues all across the
country.
Gwyn loves books and reading. She’s worked in bookstores and libraries since college and has
a deep knowledge of everything from history to fairy tales to fantasy. Our shelves are proof:
books fill nearly every room of our house, collected over years and they are impossible to pare
down. When she’s not adding to that collection, Gwyn writes her own stories.
We’re proud, self-proclaimed nerds, who plan trips to Renaissance Festivals and comic book
conventions and who could spend a whole weekend at a museum. Dungeons & Dragons nights,
board games, zoo trips, and Marvel or Ghibli movie outings with friends and family are regular
parts of our life, and we can’t wait to share them with a child of our own.
We have built a home that is cozy, warm, and a space for creative pursuit. We have a support
network of friends and family that support us, and we support and love in return. We hope that
the story of our life inspires you to get to know us better, so we can learn about you as well. We
thank you for considering us as candidates to love the child in your care.
~Donald and Gwyn
