Hello! We’re Matt and Kate!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We hope that you feel supported and loved no matter where you are in your journey. Our hearts are open, and we can’t wait for the opportunity to love and care for a child through every stage and challenge of life!
We’ve been together for 14 years – in 2024 we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary! Our families attended the same church when we were kids, but we didn’t really connect until introduced during college by mutual friends. Matt asked Kate to be his girlfriend the day he graduated Law School, and we got married four years later.
We took some time after getting married to grow together and stabilize our finances so we could eventually build a family. A few years ago, we started our journey with a fertility clinic after struggling to conceive, and we were diagnosed with infertility. This process was heartbreaking, as we still desire to love and nurture a child – to help a child grow knowing they are unconditionally loved and valued.
Matt works as a librarian in a law firm – he knows research in and out! When he’s not working, he loves reading, working out, relaxing, and indulging in cheesy 1980s action/kung-fu movies. As a child, he wanted to be a scientist who studied dinosaurs. Kate works as an accountant – numbers are her thing! She enjoys musicals, crafts, weight-lifting, and baking – anything from bread to cookies! She likes to relax by playing piano or watching reality shows.
We love spending time with friends and going on adventures. Our “happy place” is Traverse City – we love exploring the lakeshore, shopping in town, and trying new restaurants. We have a tradition of visiting a farm with our friends in the fall to get apples, pumpkins, and cider – and top it off with pumpkin carving. We have been to multiple renaissance festivals together, and even went to a “Mac n’ Cheese Fest” once!
We live in a house in Grand Rapids with four bedrooms, which includes a dedicated bedroom for the child that we adopt. They will have their own space to sleep, dream, and play. We havetwo wonderful cats, Koukla and Max, who bring a lot of joy and entertainment to our household!
We have family that live near us in Michigan. We have two nephews and a niece who look forward to playing and growing up with their new cousin. This child will be surrounded by love and joy!
If you choose to, we want you to be part of your child’s life. We will provide an upbringing where kindness, generosity, and respect for others is taught and demonstrated every day. We promise to encourage them to follow their dreams and provide the tools and opportunities for them to achieve whatever that dream may be.
Thank you for reading these words, and we wish all the best to you!
